How to Put Your iPhone, iPad into Recovery Mode

If your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad won’t even show up in iTunes, the only way to restore your iDevice is to put your device into recovery mode. Recovery Mode is about how to start all over again on your iPad like new. It deletes everything, including the operating system, and reloads directly from Apple. Once your iPad is in recovery mode, you can proceed to the iPad restoration process.
Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode. After putting the device into recovery mode, you can follow the guide of Part II to exit.

Part I: How to Put iOS Device into Recovery Mode ?

Step 1: Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer’s USB port.

Step 2: Turn off the device. Press and hold the "Home" and "Sleep" buttons on your iPhone at the same time until your device screen goes black.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" and "Home" buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

Step 3: While pressing and holding the Home button, and connect the USB cable to your iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.

Part II: How to Exit Recovery Mode ?

If you’ve put your iPhone into Recovery Mode, but wish to exit without restoring your iPhone back to factory settings, you can try the following steps. Please note that if your iPhone is indeed corrupted, you may have no other choice but to do a complete restore back to factory settings.
